In the beginning of the term your best guides for student life are your tutor, the Aalto School of Economics information guide and the KY guide. For any questions your tutor could not answer, you can try to find the answer through the following links.
KY Membership
Being a member of KY you are allowed to participate all KY’s events and parties. To be a member of KY you need to pay the membership fee of Aalto University Student Union (AYY). After you have paid the membership fee of AYY you will get a KY stamp from KY office to your receipt. Only with a KY stamp in your receipt or a KY sticker in your student card you will get all the benefits that KY offers.

Aalto University Student Union (AYY)
Aalto University Student Union is the official student organization of Aalto University. The purpose of AYY is to represent the students, look after their interests, and support the community of 15,000 students. AYY provides its members with a variety of services such as healthcare and housing.

Tutors
All exchange students are assigned to a tutor group. The tutors take care of the foreign students from the moment of their arrival in Finland.

KY-Sub
KY International Subcommittee is an organization dedicated to arrange parties, trips and cottage weekends as well as other events.
The events are aimed for exchange students, but Finnish and international degree students are warmly welcome to join!

Sport clubs
The backbone of KY’s sports sector is the sports clubs. There are more than 20 of them. The selection includes everything from ice hockey to golf and basketball.

Housing
As an exchange student, you will live in an apartment owned by Aalto University Student Union (AYY) or the Student Housing Foundation of the Helsinki Region (HOAS).

Student card
All BSc, MSc, exchange students and postgraduate students who are members of AYY can order astudent card.

Bank account
The easiest way to open a Finnish bank account is to fill in the bank account order form provided via your tutor (or at the orientation) and open the account together with your tutor group.
Public transport
As an exchange student you will get a 10% discount for the bus card for being a citizen of Helsinki. Before getting the discount you have to visit the magistrate.
